Adam is already a virtuoso guitarist. He has a natural gift for the guitar, and this innate talent has been refined through years of serious study and hard work. Most important of all he truly loves music. Adam Levin is a true 21st century “renaissance man,” and a gift to the world. - Eliot Fisk Since beginning his study of the classical guitar at age 7, Adam Levin has performed the world over in settings across the United States, Italy and England. He has appeared as soloist and in chamber ensembles at renowned venues such as the Chicago Art Institute, Northwestern University and Chicago Cultural Center, in Italy at the Palazzo Chigi Saracini in Siena, and in Boston at the Isabella Gardner Museum, the Children’s Museum, and Jordan Hall. Levin has been guest artist on music series, including Chicago Classical Guitar Society and the newly formed Boston Guitar Project. Mr. Levin has also presented community-engagement programs for children, adolescents, and seniors in the Boston area at the Chestnut Hill Day School, at the Cadbury and Brigham House Assisted Living Centers, and at The Boston Ethical Society. Levin’s diverse repertoire includes works by Bach, Beaser, Lauro, Scarlatti and Walton. Current projects include transcribing the solo violin works of Eugene Ysaye for guitar as well as presenting the Boston premeire this season of The Divan of Moses, a song cycle for voice and guitar, by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. An avid chamber musician, Adam Levin has also performed works by Bach, Paganini, Piazzolla, Rodrigo and Tedesco with orchestra, string quartet and guitar, duos with violin, as well as guitar duos. The recipient of numerous top prizes, Adam Levin has been recognized by the Society of American Musicians in Chicago, IL, the Lake Forest Concerto Competition, IL, and the Schubert Competition in St. Paul, MN. Most recently, he was awarded the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, for innovative community work in the Boston area. As part of this award, Adam will be designing interactive music programs for school audiences as well as audiences at homeless shelters, rehabilitation centers, halfway houses and prisons. Oscar Ghiglia, a pre-eminent artist and torchbearer for the late Maestro Andre Segovia, first heard Levin play in the spring of 2005, and was reminded of “a young Eliot Fisk” then lauded him for his “masterfully colorful playing.” He then invited Levin to his elite summer course in Siena, Italy where Adam, along with fifteen of the world’s up and coming guitarist studied, performed in recital. Adam received the “Diploma of Merit” in 2005 and 2006 in recognition for his assiduous studies and performances in Tuscany. A native of Chicago’s North Shore, Adam is a Master’s degree candidate at New England Conservatory in Boston. He has completed two undergraduate degrees and pre-medical requirements at Northwestern University. Over the years, Adam has studied with or performed for many of the current generations’ master recitalists, including Sergio Assad, Manuel Barrueco, Dusan Bogdanovic Eduardo Fernandez, Eliot Fisk, Antigoni Goni, Robert Guthre, Paul Henry, Adam Holzman, Sharon Isbin, Jeremy Jouve, Mark Maxwell, Lorenzo Micheli, Paul Odette, Elena Papandreou, Christopher Parkening, Pepe Romero, Angel Romero, David Russell, Shinobu Sato, Hopkinson Smith, Mark Teicholz, Anne Waller, Fabio Zannon, and Louis Zea.
